Other CP Projects: Tesfaye wins at the Reel Earth Film Festival

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

A short film, Tesfaye, from by the Deidox director Brent Gudgel just won at a film festival, and figured it was worth a blog post in case you wanted to see it.

The summer before we started working on Deidox, Gudgel (or Gudge as we like to call him) directed a short documentary in Ethiopia called “Tesfaye.” The film was shot over two weeks by Gudge and the cinematographer Corey Petrick (super talented guy who has also done some filming on the Nooma videos).

This past weekend Tesfaye won “Best Ultra Short FIlm” at the Reel Earth Film Festival in New Zealand. Yes, the New Zealand on the other side of the world. Pretty cool. It had previously won Best Short Film at the International Fest of Cinema & Technology as well as the Grand Prize at the High Desert shorts International Film Festival.

Watching the Tesfaye video you can see some of the storytelling elements that led to the DEIDOX style. This video is actually the 2nd video in a 3-part series Chronicle Project produced for in partnership with Eden Reforestation Projects, a group doing holistic poverty relief work. If you’re curious, you can find out more about Tesfaye and their work at edenprojects.org.

We’re working on new Deidox films!

Monday, May 11th, 2009

Exciting news! We are in the middle of pre-production on the next three Deidox films! Shooting will begin in a few weeks. We’re thrilled to begin telling more Deidox stories and can’t wait to be out there with our cameras again.

If you’re able, pray that the Lord guides us in the pre-production process as we try to discern what stories he wants us to tell and how to tell them. Pray He prepares hearts and minds for the shoots, and that he orchestrates whatever circumstances need to happen on camera to get the Deidox documentaries He desires.

Thanks for your support. We’ll be posting updates throughout the new productions.
